Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new metro corridors in Delhi, marking the completion of India’s first fully operational Ring Metro and further expanding the capital’s rapid transit network.
The projects form part of a larger infrastructure push in the city, with total investments of approximately ₹33,500 crore, including ₹18,300 crore worth of Delhi Metro expansions.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the new metro links will significantly improve daily commuting, reduce road congestion, and contribute to lowering pollution levels in the national capital.
Pink Line Completion Creates India’s First Ring Metro
The highlight of the inauguration was the Majlis Park–Maujpur–Babarpur stretch of the Pink Line, a 12.3-km elevated corridor developed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
With this addition, the Delhi Metro Pink Line now spans 71.56 km, forming a complete circular alignment around the city — effectively creating India’s first operational Ring Metro system.
