With the approval of Delhi Metro’s Phase V(A) corridors, Central Secretariat Metro Station is set to emerge as a triple interchange hub, significantly strengthening network integration and passenger convenience across the National Capital Region (NCR).
From dual to triple interchange
At present, Central Secretariat is one of Central Delhi’s most important interchange stations, connecting the Yellow Line and the Violet Line. It serves thousands of daily commuters, particularly office-goers travelling to the Central Secretariat, Parliament Street, and surrounding government office districts.
Under Phase V(A), the station will also connect to the Magenta Line extension as part of the Central Vista Corridor (R.K. Ashram Marg–Indraprastha). This upgrade will transform Central Secretariat into a three-line interchange, enhancing accessibility and reducing travel time for both commuters and visitors.
Enhanced connectivity to Central Vista and Kartavya Bhawans
The new interchange will provide direct metro connectivity to Kartavya Bhawans and other key government establishments in the Central Vista area, offering near-doorstep access for office-goers and visitors.
According to estimates, the upgraded station will benefit:
-
Around 60,000 daily office commuters
-
Nearly 2 lakh daily visitors
This improved connectivity is expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles, lower congestion, cut emissions, and support Delhi’s broader goals of sustainable urban mobility and ease of living.
