MD of NCRTC Engages with Indian Ambassador to the Philippines to Strengthen International Collaboration
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the agency responsible for implementing the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India, continues to expand its international outreach to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration. In a recent diplomatic engagement, Shri Shalabh Goel, Managing Director of NCRTC, met with the Ambassador of India to the Philippines to discuss opportunities for bilateral cooperation in urban transit development and infrastructure modernization.
India’s RRTS initiative represents a transformative approach to urban mobility, designed to provide high-speed, high-frequency commuter rail services across the National Capital Region (NCR). The RRTS corridors aim to seamlessly integrate with existing metro rail networks, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel times substantially. As the NCRTC progresses with the implementation of multiple RRTS corridors, including the flagship Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut line, international collaboration remains a key component in adopting global best practices and innovative technologies.
During the meeting, Shri Goel emphasized the significance of sustainable and efficient mass transit solutions in addressing the challenges of urban congestion and pollution. He highlighted the RRTS’s role in promoting transit-oriented development and fostering economic growth by improving accessibility across the NCR. The discussion also covered the potential for knowledge sharing between India and the Philippines, particularly in areas such as project management, financing models, and the integration of advanced signaling and communication systems.
The engagement aligns with NCRTC’s broader strategy to leverage international expertise and partnerships to enhance the operational efficiency and passenger experience of India’s rapid transit systems. India’s metro rail and RRTS projects have increasingly attracted global attention for their scale, technological innovation, and commitment to sustainability. By collaborating with diplomatic missions and foreign agencies, NCRTC aims to position itself as a leader in regional transit development within Asia.
Shri Goel’s participation in the Asian Development Bank’s Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum 2026 further underscores NCRTC’s active role in regional transport dialogues. The forum serves as a platform for policymakers, industry leaders, and development partners to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and solutions in transport infrastructure across Asia and the Pacific. NCRTC’s contributions to these discussions reflect India’s growing influence in shaping the future of urban mobility in the region.
As NCRTC advances the RRTS corridors, the focus remains on delivering world-class infrastructure that supports economic vitality and environmental sustainability. The corporation’s engagement with the Indian Embassy in the Philippines exemplifies its commitment to fostering international cooperation, which is essential for adopting innovative technologies and best practices that can be tailored to India’s unique urban transit needs.
Looking ahead, NCRTC plans to continue strengthening ties with international partners and diplomatic missions to facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building. These efforts are expected to accelerate the deployment of efficient, safe, and sustainable rapid transit solutions that will transform the commuting experience for millions of residents in the National Capital Region.
