The corridor’s alignment passes through key residential and commercial hubs, which are currently underserved by rapid transit options.

Financially, the project is being executed under a phased contract model, with civil works and systems installation contracts awarded to reputed infrastructure firms following transparent bidding processes. The estimated project cost has been revised to reflect inflation and technological upgrades, with funding shared between the central government, the West Bengal state government, and multilateral agencies.

Construction activities are expected to accelerate in the coming months, with targeted completion timelines set for the mid-2020s. KMRC has committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
